Coachella Valley, California

Project summary

Capuzzi Consulting Group staff served as Task Manager (Matt Capuzzi) and Project Engineer (Forrest Baker) for this transformative project in the Coachella Valley. Our staff led the design and traffic operations evaluation for the innovative intersection concepts and were also responsible for the ATP grant application. The project received more than $36 million in funding through ATP Cycle 6. The project proposes 9 miles of one-way and two-way separated bike lanes on Avenue 48 in the cities of LaQuinta, Indio, and Coachella in Coachella Valley.  The project, which is being led by the Coachella Valley Area Governments (CVAG), includes a direct connection to the Coachella Festival grounds. The project also includes bike signals and innovative signal phasing to allow for fully protected bike movements at signalized intersections, innovative lighting, recessed and raised bike/ped crossings at uncontrolled intersections, and impressive public art features.
