Otay Mesa Transit Center

San Diego, California

Project summary

Capuzzi Consulting group staff served as Project Manager (Matt Capuzzi) for the conceptual design and PS&E for the Otay Mesa Transit Center at the Land Port of Entry (LPOE) in Otay Mesa.  The project initially included two separate, unconnected bus loops with separate entrances.  During the PS&E phase, MTS asked if the loops could be connected for maximum flexibility.  Matt’s team developed a new conceptual design plan for the transit center, which was approved after field testing was completed by MTS.  The completed transit center includes custom bus shelters, ticket vending machines, public safety cameras, a direct connection to the pedestrian LPOE, bus pullouts, benches, lighting, a shared-use path that can be used to bypass the transit center to access the LPOE, wayfinding, a restroom with utility connections for the bus drivers, and aesthetically designed walls and landscaping.
